Help Jaycees restock Schaumburg Twp. Food Pantry shelves

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees will be conducting a food drive for the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Make a Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 25, at Valli Produce, 850 N. Roselle Road, in Hoffman Estates.

Donations will also be accepted throughout October during regular business hours at Edward Jones Investment Firm, 1732 W. Algonquin Road, Hoffman Estates.

Regardless of the time of year, there are always residents in the township who, from time-to-time, rely on food and other items from the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. Food supplies run particularly low during this time of year.

"As part of the nationally recognized Make a Difference Day, we want to restock the pantry and make sure that no one goes hungry heading into the holiday season," says Amy Nguyen, president of the Hoffman Estates Jaycees.

Past President Rob Smith says, "Make a Difference Day is an annual event where individuals are asked to make a positive impact in their community. What better place to have a positive impact than at a food pantry."

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees will be out in front of Valli Produce passing out a list of the various items that the pantry needs. Individuals will be asked to purchase one or more items while they are in the store and drop them off with the Jaycees when they leave.

Every year the Jaycees collect several shopping carts full of food and personal products for the pantry's depleted supplies.

In addition, for those closer to North Hoffman Estates (North of Algonquin Road), Edward Jones has agreed to accept donations on behalf of the Jaycees at their local office during regular business hours.

"Having two drop-off locations will make it more convenient for individuals at different locations and allow us to help the food pantry even more," says Kevin Green, Edward Jones adviser and Hoffman Estates Jaycees member.

"We're excited to be helping out in order to ensure no one goes hungry this year."
