Go wild about wildlife in Elburn Sunday

The Fox Valley Wildlife Center in Elburn invites the community to its third annual "Wild About Wildlife" event from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center in the James O. Breen Community Park, 3795 Campton Hills Road in St. Charles.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or prepaid. Tickets are $15, $10 for children or $40 for family. A ticket also gets you a bowl of chili or soup, cornbread and cider. For tickets, visit www.foxvalleywildlife.org.

Jim Nesci of Cold Blooded Creatures' program from 3:40 to 4:40 p.m. will feature Bubba the alligator and many others. The Northern Illinois Raptor Center will bring five of their native Illinois raptors.

The Willowbrook Wildlife Center will have a Blandings turtle display where you can learn about these endangered reptiles. Also, will be research on red-tailed hawk monitoring at O'Hare Airport on their flight patterns and return rates from distant relocation sites. Learn how to identify one of these birds if you see them and what to do with the information. There will be a silent auction and a raffle of a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

Fox Valley Wildlife Center, 45W061 Route 38 in Elburn, is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-based corporation run entirely on donations, memberships and fundraisers which receives no federal, state or local funding. It is state and federally licensed to care for the more than 2,500 animals received this year.
