Bond set at $2M in cold-case death of Wausau woman

WAUSAU, Wis. - Bond is set at $2 million for a Wisconsin prison inmate accused of killing a Wausau woman and burying her body four years ago.

Thirty-four-year-old Kristopher Torgerson appeared in court by video Wednesday. Torgerson is serving time at Boscobel prison in an unrelated case.

Torgerson faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, attempted armed robbery and hiding a corpse in the death of Stephanie Low.

Low disappeared from her apartment on Oct. 10, 2010. Authorities believe Torgerson went to Low's apartment to get cocaine, and that Low fought him and Torgerson killed her.

Police say Torgerson led them to Low's remains last month in the national forest near Wabeno.

Defense attorney Leonard Kachinsky says Torgerson plans to plead not guilty.

WSAW-TV reports a preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 25.
