Mount Prospect adds two new firefighters

The Mount Prospect Fire Department welcomed a pair of new firefighter/paramedics to its ranks this week with the additions of Matthew Rady and Benjamin Johnson.

Board of Fire and Police Commissioner Michaele Skowron administered the oath of office to Rady and Johnson, who were joined at the ceremony by family, friends and fellow firefighters.

"We are excited to welcome both Matthew and Benjamin to the Mount Prospect Fire Department," Fire Chief John Malcolm said.

Both Rady and Johnson are certified firefighter/paramedics. Rady previously served with the Carpentersville Fire Department. During the ceremony, he received Mount Prospect badge number 161, which was pinned on by his mother.

Johnson came to the department with experience as a paramedic through Advance Ambulance Company in Niles. He holds a bachelor's degree in management from Hope College, and is a second generation firefighter. His father, who attended the ceremony, was a member of the

Northbrook Fire Department for 30 years. Johnson received Mount Prospect badge number 162, pinned on by his wife.
