Voter registration period extended:

Grace period voter registration has been extended to 7 p.m. on Election Day for those not currently registered to vote in the Nov. 4 general election. Registering under grace provisions allows county residents to update registration at a new address within Lake County or register for the first time. Those who register under the grace period provision must vote at the time of registration. Registration is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lake County Clerk's office, 18 N. County St., Waukegan and beginning Monday, Oct. 20, at three additional sites: Gurnee village hall; North Chicago city hall and the county clerk Annex, 415 Washington St., Waukegan. Grace registration also is available at the Lake County Central Permitting Facility, 500 W. Winchester Road. Libertyville.
