Police: Batavia man sexually assaulted teen after Jell-O shots

A Batavia man is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl after getting her drunk on vodka Jell-O shots, court records indicate.

Sean A. Loftis, 38, of the 1300 block of McClurg Drive, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse.

Loftis was arrested the afternoon of Oct. 9 after he went to the Batavia police department, said Batavia Police Det. Sgt. Shawn Mazza.

According to an affidavit for a search warrant at Loftis' home, the girl told investigators that Loftis provided her vodka Jell-O shots and other red and blue mixed drinks a day earlier.

The girl told investigators at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center that she vomited and he took her upstairs, changed her clothes and sexually assaulted and abused her, according to an affidavit.

She teen also said Loftis had his iPad with him during this time and she suspects he may have made a recording.

"(The victim) also mentioned during the interview that she believed she had been recorded in the past while entering and exiting the shower because she found a naked video of herself on an Apple iPad," stated part of the affidavit.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the home on Oct. 9, seizing several smartphones, computers, iPads and iPods, her clothing from the washing machine, vodka, disposable cups and other media storage devices, court records show.

"It's still an ongoing investigation," Mazza said.

Loftis posted $10,000 bond Tuesday and was released from the Kane County jail, records show.

He is to have no contact with the victim while free on bond and is due in court on Wednesday.
