Lake County hosting tire recycling event

A tire recycling event will be held for Lake County residents from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Lake County Division of Transportation, 600 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville.

Passenger car, truck and tractor tires will be accepted, but no rims are allowed. The event is open only for Lake County residents. Businesses, tire dealers or commercial trucking firms are not allowed.

There is a $1 per tire charge, cash only, to offset the costs of transportation and tire recycling.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and is sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, the Lake County Farm Bureau, Lake County Health Department and Clarke mosquito control. Call (847) 336-9340 or visit www.swalco.org.
