Discrimination alive, well in school

I recently received a tweet about a young man with Down syndrome. Danny tried out every year for the variety show at Maine South High School, but he was never chosen. This is his senior year, and once again he was not picked to be part of the school's variety show. Danny has worked with a voice coach and his passion is singing.

Why would a public school be allowed to discriminate? Please post this so this does not happen to others like Danny. We need to stop discrimination.
