'Road from Nowhere' would send jobs away

This is in response to your editorial of Oct. 3, "A waste revisited." Doesn't anyone know where the "Road from Nowhere" goes? Well, it goes to the other waste the politicians want to build - the Peotone airport, where all the politicians own the land in and surrounding the site. Your SS Illiana could sail right into the gates of Peotone so the users could fly away on the politicians' magic carpet.

Why should the politicians become super rich on the backs of Illinois taxpayers when there are currently operational third airports in Milwaukee and, better yet, Rockford where the airport parking is free and your tax dollars stay in Illinois - not sail into Indiana. As you said, who would use this expensive toll road when there are less-expensive options? It also predicted that rather than increase Illinois employment, jobs would be drained into Indiana.

This resurrection of the SS Illiana "Road from Nowhere" is captained by Gov. Pat Quinn and crewed by his Democratic backers, all because most of them own property in and around Peotone. Quinn also needs something for which to bang his tambourine to cover his mismanagement of Illinois. Do not support the Illiana Road from Nowhere or Peotone airport if you want your tax dollars to mean something.
