The church was organized by German Settlers in 1846. When the congregation outgrew its small, first church building, they had a larger one built in 1875-1876 on a new site, the present location. In 1885, lightening struck the church steeple, starting a fire, which destroyed the entire building. The Church was soon rebuilt according to the identical, original plans, and dedicated later that year, Dec. 20, 1885.
