Spellman: Another couple days off for Rozsival

After practicing with the team again Tuesday at Johnny's IceHouse, injured Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival (upper body) pronounced himself "closer to 100 percent,"

Not quite close enough for Hawks coach Joel Quenneville, who had been toying with returning Rozsival to the lineup Wednesday against Calgary but has altered those plans. Now, Saturday appears to be the target return date for the veteran who has missed the first two games of the regular season.

"When they're ready, they're ready," Quenneville said of the diagnosis of injuries. "It's a long season. Whether you're old or young, let's make sure we correct it and it's not going to be an ongoing issue."

Swapping partners:

With Michal Rozsival's return to the lineup delayed, look for the Hawks' defensive pairings to continue to be mixed and matched at the whim of the coaching staff.

"You've just got to be ready," defenseman Brent Seabrook said. "Any shift you can be out there.

"I think the tough job is (assistant coach Mike Kitchen's), trying to get the guys rolling and get some structure back there, form pairings and stuff like that.

"He's doing a good job and as defensemen we just really have to have our ears open and be ready for hearing our names (called)."

Early verdict:

Here's Joel Quenneville's take on the third line of Bryan Bickell, Brad Richards and Ben Smith:

"Two games, been OK. I think they haven't had much production or zone time or possession time.

"I just think that line eventually could click real quickly and become one of those things where all four lines are going and whether they're producing or not, getting more offensive zone time."

He said it:

Shooting percentage is stupid stuff. What's the point? Who cares what your shooting percentage is? You try to shoot to score every time.
