Girls volleyball: Lake County roundup

Mickenzie Andrews slammed 12 kills and posted 3 blocks, and Lake Zurich's girls volleyball team rallied past Palatine 17-25, 25-22, 26-24 in nonconference action Tuesday night.

Lexi Gora added 8 kills and 3 aces for Lake Zurich (10-14), while Hannah Sweetwood dished out 20 assists. Amanda Kamins delivered a pair of aces for the Bears, and Rachel Corrigan (2 kills) and Nicole Gaggiano each had 2 blocks. Sweetwood and Gora chipped in 6 and 5 digs, respectively.

Grayslake North d. Woodstock North: The Knights celebrated senior night with a 27-25, 25-22 win in Fox Valley Fox Division action, as seniors Emily Smith (5 kills) and Bailee Hardy (4 kills) helped lead the way.

Grayslake North senior Maggie Fish added 3 kills, while senior setter Char Gaunkey dished out 6 assists and chalked up 9 digs. Seniors Nicole LeBaron and Stefani Keilwitz had 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Junior Kendall Buchman distributed a season-high 12 assists.

Crystal Lake Central d. Grayslake Central: Hayley Peterson and Marie Gerbasi each had 5 kills for the Rams in their 26-24, 25-16 loss in Fox Valley Fox action.

Grayslake Central (18-14, 6-4) also received 4 aces from Gerbasi, 18 digs from Morgan Anderberg and 19 assists from Juliana Frusolone (69-of-69 setting). Allie Daul (4 kills) and Taylor O'Neill (3 kills, 2 blocks) also contributed at the net for Grayslake Central.
