Wisconsin man with escape warrant accused of pimping in Lake County

The Lake County sheriff's office said its special investigations unit arrested a 35-year-old Wisconsin man Monday who was pimping two women.

Vernell Cauley, of the 1800 block of Aberg Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, was pulled over about 2 p.m. on northbound Interstate 94 near Route 120, according to a news release.

Authorities said he gave false identification so that he would not get arrested on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections escape warrant.

Police said they learned he was pimping two female passengers in the vehicle. He posted advertisements for the ladies on backpage.com, according to the news release.

Cauley was charged with obstructing justice, promoting prostitution, fugitive from justice, unlawful possession of cannabis and driving while license suspended.

His bail was set at $50,000 and he is slated to appear in court on October 21.
