Judson to host World Leaders Forum run

Judson University will host its first World Leaders Forum Color Run Saturday, Nov. 8.

The event will include a one mile walk/run and a two-mile run at the Elgin campus off Route 31, just south of I-90.

Proceeds will go toward the World Leaders Forum Scholarship fund, which provides scholarships for Judson students and includes an endowment to start an entrepreneurial studies program.

The top three male and female finishers will be entered in a raffle to win a ticket to the World Leaders Forum VIP event in Chicago - a $2,000 value - this spring.

There also will be a post-race party where participants can learn more about the World Leaders Forum.

"The purpose of the color run is to bring together the Elgin and Judson communities to build excitement for the fifth annual World Leaders Forum," Judson University President Gene Crume said.

Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón will headline the forum on March 12. He is the first Latin American former head of state to be invited to speak at Judson.

In previous years, the World Leaders Forum has featured former President George W. Bush, former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Calderón served as Mexico's president from 2006 to 2012. He chaired the G-20 conference in 2012. He was named "Statesman of the Year" by the World Economic Forum, and "Champion of the Earth" by the United Nations. TIME magazine dubbed him one of the top 100 influential people in the world.

He will speak about the changing global economy during a community event at 2 p.m. March 12 at the Judson University Herrick Chapel on the Elgin campus, and at a VIP reception later that day at the Hilton in downtown Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave. Limited seating is available for the community event. To purchase event or VIP tickets, visit WorldLeadersForum.info.
