Dundee library hosts fall book sale

The Friends of the Fox River Valley Public Library District will host a fall book sale from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee.

The Friends will be selling newly donated materials, including hardcovers, paperbacks, romance novels, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and children's books.

During the last hour of the sale on Saturday, a grocery bag filled with books will be $3.

The sale is held in the lower level meeting room. The Friends will give away one free paperback book for every nonperishable item donated at the book sale. Food donations will be given to the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.

The Friends raise money to supplement needs that are not covered in the library's yearly operating budget. Over the years, they have funded the purchase of computers and software, audiobooks, Spanish language materials, and library tours for every second-grade class in the district. Most recently, the Friends donated money to purchase a 3-D printer for the library.

The district serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin. Visit frvpld.info for more information.
