Pippen to take stand at one-time adviser's trial

Former Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen will be front and center in a bank fraud trial being heard in federal court.

Prosecutors say the six time NBA champion will testify Friday in the fraud trial of Robert Lunn in U.S. District Court in Chicago. Lunn has denied trying to defraud clients and Oak Brook-based Leaders Bank of more than $3.2 million.

The 49-year-old Pippen previously sued Lunn after the basketball star lost money in questionable investments. One of them included an investment in an airplane. Pippen won a nearly $12 million judgment against Lunn in 2004.

Each count of bank fraud that Lunn faces carries a maximum 30-year prison term and $1 million fine. If there's a conviction, restitution is mandatory.
