Probation, jail for one of two in Elgin Ecstasy bust

A 18-year-old arrested in a June 2014 undercover Ecstasy bust in Elgin received four years of probation and 180 days in jail after pleading guilty Friday, according to court records.

Alexandra R. Wojcik, of the 0-99 block of Saratoga Court, South Elgin, could be resentenced to up to seven years in prison if she violates her probation.

Her boyfriend and co-defendant, Jacob M. Laurance, 20, of the 1000 block of Glenbriar Court, St. Charles, pleaded not guilty Friday and is next due in court Nov. 5, according to Kane County court records.

He faces six to 30 years in prison on the most severe charges.

The pair were arrested after Laurance sold an undercover police officer $1,000 worth of Ecstasy after meeting in a parking lot on the 1200 block of Dundee Avenue, according to Elgin police.

Wojcik drove Laurance to the meeting, which occurred within 1,000 feet of Coleman Elementary School, according to police and court records.

Police found 16 grams of Ecstasy in Wojcik's car, according to an Elgin police report.

More severe charges were dropped in the plea agreement, which was accepted by Judge John Barsanti, records show.

Under state law, Wojcik was eligible to have her jail sentence cut in half for good behavior for felony drug possession.

Wojcik, who did not have a previous criminal record, had been in jail for 109 days since her arrest, and she was released Friday morning.

She also must pay $6,730 in fines and court fees, records show.

A message left with Wojcik's defense attorney, Dean Kekos, was not immediately returned.
