Steel Beam to hold auditions for Christmas singalong

Steel Beam Theatre will hold auditions for young actors for their upcoming "Sing-along with Santa: Santa and the Snow Queen," written and directed by Marge Uhlarik-Boller. Auditions will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the theater, 111 W. Main St. in downtown St. Charles.

This audition is open to young actors ages 8 to 16. Characters include: The Snow Queen, Princesses Spring, Summer and Autumn, Frosty, Rudolph, Elves of all shapes and sizes.

When the Snow Queen and her sisters, the Princesses of Spring, Summer and Autumn, come to the North Pole for a girls' weekend, Rudolf, Frosty and the elves try to fulfill their demands.

A sticky situation with the elves turns chaos into Christmas joy as the princesses learn the true meaning of Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Professional actors will take the roles of the Clauses. After the one-act play, actors will interact with the audience and assist children as they visit with Santa onstage.

Prepare your favorite Christmas carol and readings will be from the script. Pianists are encouraged to audition.

Rehearsals will be 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays beginning Oct. 25. This is a tuition-based program with a cost of $195 per actor, which includes professional training, script, costume, T-shirt and two complimentary tickets. Scholarships are available to families in need.
