An Illinois appellate court upheld a school district's right to fire a Rolling Meadows High School teacher who was charged with attacking his son's molester. Northwest Suburban High School District 214 fired the teacher in 2011 after he attacked an English and drama teacher at Lake Zurich High School who was charged with attacking his son and another boy. Parents unhappy with U-46 after student brings BB gun to school

A student brought a BB gun to Abbott Middle School in Elgin Monday and showed it off to a couple of friends that morning, school officials say. Parents of the other boys involved say they were never notified about the incident until hours later after their children returned home from school. Full story.

Naperville man sued in crash that left woman paralyzed

An Arlington Heights woman paralyzed last month after the car she was riding in crashed from a bridge into a rail yard has filed suit against the driver. The suit accuses Philip J. Cho, 28, of Naperville of negligence and asks for a minimum of $50,000 in damages. Full story.

Ex-cab driver sentenced to 35 years for sexual assaults

A former cabdriver who picked up three women outside a Prospect Heights nightclub and sexually assaulted two of them, and attempted to assault the third, pleaded guilty yesterday to multiple aggravated criminal sexual assault charges. Eric Chung, 31, was sentenced to a total of 35 years. Full story.

Financing kills Glen Ellyn development plans

The proposed redevelopment of the McChesney & Miller grocery store site isn't going to work financially for the village of Glen Ellyn, officials said. Trustee Diane McGinley said the McChesney site is an "ideal spot" for development, but the village can't afford all the incentives developers were seeking. Full story.

Elgin man dies from injuries after shooting

A 20-year-old Elgin man died from his injuries after being shot Tuesday night. Alberto Prado was shot at around 10 p.m. near Sherman Avenue and St. Charles Street. Full story.

Traffic

Both inbound and outbound trains along the Metra Union Pacific West Line are operating 15 to 35 minutes behind schedule due to earlier mechanical problems at the Melrose Park station. Deerfield Road between Route 83 and Buffalo Grove Road was closed just after 7 a.m. due to an accident. The northbound lanes of Route 31 between Wing and Schiller streets in Elgin are closed due to a water main break. Traffic was sharing the southbound lanes. Just to the west, a rollover accident was reported at Plank and Muirhead roads in unincorporated Kane County. Full traffic.
