CLC Music Department announces fall concert lineup

Seven concerts featuring a huge variety of choral and instrumental music will be presented by the College of Lake County Music Department during the fall semester.

The CLC Music Department boasts four instrumental groups: the Monday Night Jazz Ensemble, the Tuesday Night Jazz Ensemble, the Wind Ensemble and the Concert Band.

CLC's choral program includes four ensembles: the Choir of Lake County, the CLC Singers, the Chamber Choir and the Gospel Choir. The ensembles feature musically talented CLC students as well as community members.

The Chamber Singers will perform "Four Motets on Gregorian Themes" by Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986). The Gospel Choir will present a variety of uplifting gospel songs. The choral directors for 2014-15 are Jeffrey DeLay (CLC Singers and Choir of Lake County), Ingrid Mikolajczyk (Chamber Singers) and Charles Thomas Hayes (Gospel Choir). Due to the quiet nature of many songs, choral concerts are not appropriate for children under the age of 3.

• Guest Artist Concert featuring Matt Harris: 4 p.m. Nov. 23. Harris, a pianist, composer and arranger from Los Angeles, brings his A-list talent to CLC to perform with the Monday Night Jazz Ensemble. He has arranged, orchestrated and performed on numerous jingles, recordings and live performances for clients such as Taco Bell, Home Depot, Jack in the Box, Ford, Schwab and Marriott.
