Girls volleyball: Lake County roundup

Alex Basler pounded 9 kills, and Libertyville's girls volleyball team stayed perfect in the North Suburban Lake Division with a 25-14, 25-10 win over Mundelein on Wednesday night.

Liz Apgar dished out 15 assists for the Wildcats (22-4, 5-0).

Stevenson d. Zion-Benton: The Patriots received 10 kills apiece from Kendell Frisch and Emily Braiser, as they rallied past the Zee-Bees 19-25, 28-26, 25-22 in North Suburban Lake action.

Jen Lichtenstein added 6 kills for Stevenson (16-11, 4-1), while Abby Trebilco lofted 27 assists. Dan Pflugradt and Lichtenstein had 24 and 20 digs, respectively, and Braiser served 2 aces.

Warren d. Lake Zurich: Jenna Walczak collected 7 kills and 8 digs, helping the Blue Devils post a 25-22, 25-12 win in North Suburban Lake play.

Warren (18-7) also received 6 kills, 10 digs and 1 ace (8-of-8 serving) from Lindsey Biedron. The Blue Devils' other contributors included Maddie Walczak (3 digs), Nicole Berzin (8 assists, 3 digs, 2 aces), Lauren Frericks (12 assists, 6 digs, 4 kills), Claire Lundtveit (2 blocks, 2 digs), Natalie McNally (3 kills, 3 digs) and Kim Hengesh (5 blocks, 4 kills, 4 digs, 2 aces).

Lake Zurich (9-13) got 3 kills apiece from Rachel Corrigan, Hannah Sweetwood and Lexi Gora, who also served 2 aces. Sweetwood dished out 14 assists. Mickenzie Andrews and Sienna Robertson each had 10 digs for the Bears.

Vernon Hills d. Wauconda: Val Barybina had 8 kills, as the Cougars won 16-25, 25-18, 25-17 to hand the Bulldogs their first loss in North Suburban Prairie play.

Vernon Hills (7-14) also received 15 digs from Jade Goldufsky, 6 blocks from Jenna Joyce and 24 assists from Tori Smith.

Sara Sexton's 10 kills and LeAnne Sakowicz's 7 kills, 16 digs and 10 assists paced Wauconda (18-6, 3-1). Becky Sidlowski added 4 kills for the Bulldogs, Catie Petralia had 9 assists and Ashley Anderson racked up 11 digs.

Lakes d. Grant: McKenna Lahr's 8 aces and Allie Grandos' 5 kills and 3 blocks helped the Eagles capture a 25-15, 25-10 decision in North Suburban Prairie action.

Maddie Demo dished out 18 assists for Lakes (24-4), while Megan Behrendt chipped in 4 kills and 7 digs.

Grant d. Round Lake: On Tuesday night, the Bulldogs won the North Suburban Prairie match 25-11, 25-20, receiving 11 kills from Kylie Mueller.

Grant also received 4 kills from Hannah Johnson, 16 assists from Kate Kiser, 9 digs and 2 aces from Megan Whitman.
