Elgin cyclist in critical after being hit by car

A 21-year-old Elgin man remains in critical condition Wednesday evening after being hit by a car while riding his bike the night before, Elgin police said.

The accident occurred Tuesday evening around 9 p.m. when Armando Cazares-Calvario was crossing Summit Street in the area of Hill Street. Cazares-Calvario was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he's listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old Elgin man, was uninjured. Police are calling the case an accident and say it's under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 289-2661.
