Flu shots, more available for veterans in Waukegan

Flu shots for qualified veterans provided by Walgreens will be among the services at this years stand down from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission, 20 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan. Veterans will need to show their Veterans Health Care Eligibility Identification. Discount bus and train passes also will be available for the annual event, which provides clothing, dental and health screenings and other services. Volunteers from the American Legion, VFW and their auxiliaries will be present to assist veterans with their clothing needs. Twelve police departments and 24 schools in Lake County conducted a clothing drive for this year's stand down. The VAC provides emergency assistance and help with claim filings.
