Arlington Hts. man arrested on cocaine dealing charges

A 25-year-old Arlington Heights man faces up to 30 years in prison after his arrest Monday culminated a three-month investigation into cocaine selling in McHenry County, authorities said.

Steven M. Grimm is charged with three counts each of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The most serious charge is a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison.

McHenry County Sheriff's Office said its narcotics unit launched the investigation after receiving information about an Arlington Heights resident selling cocaine in the area of the city of McHenry.

On Monday, sheriff's police said, narcotic detectives and deputies conducted an undercover purchase of cocaine. A short time later, deputies made a traffic stop on the suspect in the area of Bull Valley Road and Crystal Lake Avenue, in McHenry, and arrested Grimm, according to the sheriff's department. Detectives seized approximately 18.8 grams of cocaine, valued at $1,880.00, authorities said.

Grimm is being held in the McHenry County jail after bail was set at $200,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
