Janice Mcardle Cancer Research Foundation events exceed expectations

The Janice McArdle Cancer Research Foundation is pleased to announce the success of two events which raised significant funds and awareness for non-smoking lung cancer research.

From the golf club to the ball park, there was something for everyone to enjoy this summer while supporting Jannie's Hope.

On Aug. 9, a record number of guests were delighted by the inaugural Food and Wine Benefit at White Eagle Golf Club, and on Aug. 30, fans headed to U.S. Cellular Field for the Jannie's Hope and Chicago White Sox Non-Smoking Lung Cancer Awareness Day.

Jannie's Hope board member Meg Phillips said the events "far exceeded" her expectations.

"The funds raised over the last four years show just how loved Jannie was," said Phillips. "Her friends and family continue to spread the word in an effort to keep her memory alive by helping to raise awareness and money."

Dr. George McArdle started The Janice McArdle Cancer Research Foundation, "Jannie's Hope," in honor of his wife, Jannie, a vibrant and active non-smoker who lost her battle with lung cancer in 2008. Like many, Jannie and her family were shocked to learn she had an advanced stage of lung cancer, particularly because she was health conscious and didn't smoke.
