4 vehicles strike Indianapolis man, leave scene

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police say four separate vehicles struck a man walking along a street and each left the scene without stopping.

The man, 68-year-old Michael Fink of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene on the city's west side Friday night.

Police Lt. Chris Bailey tells The Indianapolis Star that "the fact that four people hit a person and didn't stop is disturbing."

Bailey says Fink had left a Veterans of Foreign Wars lodge about 8 p.m. and was walking along a street when he attempted to cross it and the first vehicle struck him. Two teenage witnesses tell police that as Fink tried to crawl across the street, a second vehicle, possibly a SUV, also struck him. The witnesses say two other vehicles also then struck Fink.
