Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, Oct. 4

Dundee-Crown 4, Elgin 3: In a wild one in Carpentersville that could go down as a Class 3A Streamwood regional final preview, the Chargers (11-5-1, 1-1) outscored the Maroons 3-2 in the final 40 minutes for a nonconference win. Ivan Sanchez led the way with 1 goal and 1 assist for D-C, while Willie Campos, Freddy Martinez and Jeremy Jareckyj each scored goals. Carlos Sanchez, Daniel Maldonado and Julian Ajorja tallied assists and keeper Jose Gonzalez stopped 6 Elgin shots. The Maroons (6-10) received 2 goals from Jesus Lopez and 1 from Richard Sosa while Zach Erickson and Tony Rodriguez turned in assists. Elgin goalie Edgar Rodriguez made 12 saves.

Huntley 1, DeKalb 0: In what could be a Class 3A Huntley regional championship preview, the Red Raiders (5-9-4) needed just a goal from Ryan Larsen in the 70th minute to dispose of the Barbs. An assist went to Alex Ligeza and both Michael Parks (1 save) and Andrew Fulcer (4 saves) split time in net.

Westminster Christian 3, Byron 0: Robbie Kleczynski scored 1 goal and 1 assist while Chase Woods and Will DeHaan added first half goals in the Warriors' nonconference win. Noah Gannon registered 1 assist and goalie Sam Carani made 7 saves.

Northridge Prep 6, Elgin Academy 4,: Julian Romano's hat trick wasn't enough for the Hilltoppers (6-7) in their homecoming loss. Armin Ward recorded Elgin Academy's other goal while Karl Rauschenberger had 2 assists and Drew Wilmington added 1. Spencer Schael made 15 saves in net.

Prospect 2, CL South 1: The Knights came back with 2 goals in the second half to steal a nonconference showdown at the Swamp. The Gators (12-5-1) received a first half goal from midfielder Ben Nyman on an assist from midfielder Charlie Ruff while keeper Dalton Kause made 2 saves.

Rockford Auburn 3, Harvest Christian 1: Cesar Velazquez was the only one to get to the Knights as the Lions managed third place at the Hampshire tournament. Velazquez's goal came in the 59th minute from Weston White. Keeper Noah Fox made 6 saves in 50 minutes of action in net while Sergio Velazquez made 3 saves in his duration.
