Students learn about manufacturing careers at Harper

Harper College and area manufacturers participated Friday in the third annual Manufacturing Day, a growing grass-roots of U.S. and Canadian manufacturers to show the potential of manufacturing and foster interest in related careers.

Participants heard from students enrolled in Harper's Advanced Manufacturing program, saw lab demonstrations, and visited open houses at manufacturers including Acme Industries and Toshiba Machine in Elk Grove Village and Precision Zone in Wheeling.

About 100 students from Barrington, Elk Grove and Hersey high schools were among those who attended the event.
