Create a pumpkin decoration with the Schaumburg Park District

Children can make pumpkin creations from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 18, at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane, at the Family Pumpkin Carving.

Each child receives a pumpkin to decorate. Prizes will be awarded for best overall, most original and carver's choice.

In addition to pumpkins, carving supplies, crafts, juice and snacks will be provided. Participants also may bring their own carving equipment. An adult must be present with children at all times.

"Family pumpkin carving is the perfect way for families to get into the Halloween spirit," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Center manager and general program supervisor.

Families must preregister by 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16. Resident cost per child is $15. Nonresident cost per child is $23. Adults are free.
