Buffalo Grove man pleads guilty to possessing child porn

A Buffalo Grove man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, court records show.

Michael Welstead, 51, of the 100 block of Raupp Boulevard, was sentenced to two years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to the class 3 felony. He received credit for 10 days in custody, records show.

The judge also ordered Welstead to pay $1,359 in fines and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

An investigation by Buffalo Grove police, the Cook County State's Attorney's office and the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force led investigators to Welstead, who had on his laptop files depicting pornographic images of children, prosecutors said.
