More labor talks set at Illinois Honeywell plant
METROPOLIS - Contract talks meant to end a lockout of union-backed workers at a southern Illinois plant that helps make nuclear fuel are scheduled to resume.
WSIL-TV reports that bargaining involving the Honeywell plant in the city of Metropolis in Massac County was scheduled to continue Thursday, weeks after talks were suspended.
Some 130 union workers were locked out of the plant at the beginning of August after the company and the United Steel Workers union failed to reach a deal before the latest contract expired.
Union workers at the plant also were locked out of the site in 2010 for more than a year during a contract dispute.
The plant still is operating despite the lockout.
