10-year-old honored for 911 call:

Josiah Giles, 10, of Beach Park was honored last weekend for calling 911 on Aug 5, when his great aunt had a medical emergency. Giles was given a plaque by the Lake County Sheriff's Office at the Newport Fire District with family and friends present. Preparing children to call 911 is encouraged by the sheriff's office. Giles remained calm, answered questions and followed the dispatcher's instructions, allowing the Newport Fire District to quickly respond to his residence and provide the necessary care to his great aunt. 911 guides for the public can be found at www.lakecountyil.gov/sheriff.
