Elgin man sentenced for sexually abusing Schaumburg woman, Tribune reports

An Elgin man was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday for breaking into the residence of a woman who has a hearing impairment and fondling her, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Charles Craddock, 40, of the 1300 block of Maroon Drive, was sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse and residential burglary. In exchange for the plea, charges were reduced from home invasion and criminal sexual assault.

Craddock entered the woman's home in Schaumburg while she was asleep and fondled her before fleeing with her cellphone, the Tribune reports on its website.

The victim, who was in court with a sign language interpreter, agreed with the sentence, according to the report.

In addition to the prison sentence, Craddock will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
