D300 needs volunteers

Hampshire-based Community Unit District 300 is seeking volunteers to apply for one of three positions on a new community engagement committee to increase public involvement, support, awareness and knowledge of the district.

The school board's Community and Legislative Engagement Committee, organized by Trustee Steve Fiorentino, enables members to play a more active role in community education, be involved with board decision-making and strategic processes, and empowers the community with resources, information and educational opportunities.

Members will create a plan for community engagement that includes opportunities to enhance underdeveloped relationships with minority, business, and faith communities. The plan will be recommended to the school board.

The committee will meet once a month between October and June. People interested can fill out an application at d300.org.
