Investigation prompts Dixon prison warden to retire
DIXON, Ill. The warden of Dixon Correctional Center has retired in the wake of an Illinois Department of Corrections investigation of her for protocol violations, officials said.
The investigation of Nedra Chandler began Sept. 19, the same day Sterling police arrested registered sex offender Robert L. Swon at her home.
Corrections department spokesman Tom Shaer said Tuesday the agency has protocol governing contact by officials with people of interest to the department. Chandler became Dixon's warden in 2005.
Sauk Valley Media reports Sterling Police Detective Mike Henry said he had been told Swon, 29, is one of Chandler's former foster children. Henry said he couldn't confirm the information.
Swon is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond for possession of child pornography. It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
