A taste of October, German style

The Fox Lake Library came alive Tuesday night as Alpine Thunder performed for a packed house.

The Oktoberfest style celebration featured traditional German music, pretzels and hot cider. The only thing missing was the beer.

Musician Gabriel Kasperek of Park Ridge told stories and explained the history behind each song as the band got the crowd holding hands, clapping and singing along.

Alpine Thunder is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is headed up by Correll Schumaker of Rolling Meadows, Ken Marx of Park Ridge and Gabriel Kasperek of Park Ridge. It is also the house band for the Hofbrauhaus in Rosemont.

The fun will continue this Saturday in Fox Lake as they host a Oktoberfest beer and Wine walk from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Fox Lake on Grand Avenue.
