Algonquin Goodwill grand opening scheduled

A grand opening for a new Goodwill store at 1430 E. Algonquin Road in Algonquin will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, with doors opening at 9 a.m.

The new store will bring many benefits to the community in training and employment, the generation of new sales tax receipts for Algonquin, and substantial recycling opportunities.

The Algonquin Goodwill will include a drive-thru donation center that allows donors to more easily and quickly drop off their items without having to enter the store. The store is open seven days a week: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

"We are thrilled with the opportunity to serve the citizens of Algonquin and surrounding communities," said Sam Schmitz, president of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. "We look forward to collaborating with other non-profits in the area to assist each other in meeting our respective missions. We also look forward to our long-term commitment to Algonquin."

Grand opening celebration events are planned for the Algonquin Goodwill store throughout the entire month of October. Events include prize drawings on Oct. 3 and Oct. 5, balloons for kids on Oct. 4, a live radio remote on Oct. 11, the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Oct. 24, and more!
