Downtown Highland Park merchants to raise funds for Bright Pink through October

Downtown Highland Park merchants have joined together to support Bright Pink, a national nonprofit organization focusing on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, various Downtown Highland Park businesses will hold special sales and promotions throughout the month, giving a portion of their sales back to Bright Pink.

Fundraising initiatives kicked off in September during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month at Downtown Highland Park Fashion Week, Sept. 8-12, where more than $3,000 was raised at the Women's Fashion Networking Show at Highland Park Bank and Trust and at the Family Fashion Show and Kids' Fair at Irina Makkai Classical Ballet & Dance School.

"Bright Pink is grateful for the continued support of the entire Highland Park community through this campaign. The generosity of the community will provide critical funds for our programs that are saving women's lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age," said Lindsay Avner, founder and CEO of Bright Pink.

Downtown Highland Park's Fashion Shows brought together people of all ages to enjoy the latest fall 2014 fashion trends while giving back to this worthy cause. Guests were asked for a suggested donation of $10 and were given a bright pink beaded necklace to show their dedication.
