College of Lake County to give free GED practice tests until Oct. 3

Until Oct. 3, the Adult Education division at College of Lake County is giving away free GED Ready tests. By taking GED Ready, students can learn if they are ready to pass the GED test or if they need to improve in specific skill areas.

The free tests are available to students in CLC's GED classes as well as non-students. Students should contact Mary Lynn Carver at (847) 543-2677; those not currently enrolled should call (847) 543-2021 to make an appointment to take the practice test.

Carver cautioned against falling victim to scam offers for non-authorized GED testing. "The GED test is only available at an authorized testing center," she said. "I would hate for people to spend large amounts of money to take a test that will not count," Carver said.

CLC provides free GED classes for anyone who needs them. For information, contact Carver at (847) 543-2677.

About GED Testing Service: The GED test has opened doors to better jobs and college programs for more than 19 million graduates since 1942. Last year nearly 800,000 adults sat for the GED test, which is accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and employers. As the creator of the one official GED test, GED Testing Service has a responsibility to ensure that the program continues to be a reliable and valuable pathway to a better life for the millions of adults without a high school diploma.
