Judson University sees 10 percent spike in enrollment

Elgin-based Judson University's fall enrollment is up 10 percent from last fall, officials said.

The university also saw its highest enrollment ever at 1,290 this year. While traditional enrollment remained stable, the growth is mostly among adult, graduate and certificate programs, officials said.

Enrollment in the graduate-level architecture program nearly tripled, growing from seven in 2013 to 20 students this fall. The undergraduate adult program also grew from 256 students in 2013 to 289 students this fall - a 13 percent increase.

The overall student enrollment at Judson increased from 1,171 students last fall to 1,290 students at the beginning of the 2014 fall semester. That accounts for all traditional, adult, graduate, certification and college prep students.

"What Judson is experiencing with our growth this year demonstrates that the university is enjoying more interest in our academic programs across the board," President Gene Crume said. "Last year, our traditional undergraduate student population grew. This year, our graduate and adult programs have grown and retention has remained strong. Judson continues to strengthen our robustness across all our academic programs."
