Children sing and dance during interactive concert at Ela Library

Young children danced and sang to the music of singer-songwriter Anne-Marie Akin during an interactive concert Monday at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich.

Akin performed original compositions and old favorites including "Itsy, Bitsy Spider," "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "I Am A Robot."

"I really want to create a warm family atmosphere where the parents and caregivers can interact with the children, and the children and infants and toddlers can interact with each other. Music is a very powerful thing," Akin said after performing by sitting on the floor and playing her guitar.

Almost 30 children were engaged in the lively show with finger play, puppets, singing and dancing,

"It was a really good show," said Kathleen Choi of Lake Zurich, who brought her 18-month-old twins, Lucy and Ella. "It's nice to get out for a free show. The kids really enjoyed it."
