Palatine Fire Dept. hosts open house Oct. 4

The Palatine Fire Department will host its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Fire Station 84, 220 W. Illinois Ave., Palatine.

The event will include a fire and rescue vehicle showcase, displays of specialty team equipment, station tours and refreshments.

Participants will include Nicor, ComEd, Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Northwest Community Hospital, Harper College, Flight for Life, the Palatine Police Department and the U.S. Marine Corp.

Events include a technical rescue demonstration at 10:30 a.m.; firefighter and specialty team personal protective equipment display at 10:45 a.m.;, "Mr. Wizard's" fire safety demonstration at 11:30 a.m.; a live fire/sprinkler room demonstration at 12:15 p.m.; and Flight for Life landing a helicopter at 1 p.m.
