Woman missing near Grayslake pond found safe late Monday

A woman reported missing in Grayslake has been found safe and sound, authorities said Tuesday.

Grayslake rescue personnel searched into the night Monday for a 40-year-old woman who went missing near the College Trail subdivision's retention pond.

Grayslake fire officials were called at about 9:15 p.m. by the Grayslake police department who believed the woman was in the pond near Buckingham and Cambridge drives.

About an hour into the search, rescuers changed the status of the search from a rescue to a recovery.

The woman was found at about midnight, authorities said. They did not say where she was found or where she had been.
