Elgin Bible Church asks for help to fill Hanover Township Food Pantry

Elgin Bible Church invites the community to help the Hanover Township Food Pantry fill their shelves before the holiday season. The pantry serves more than 1,000 families per month.

The church will host a food drive on the church property at 1580 E. Chicago St., Elgin. It will begin on Monday, Sept. 29, through Friday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Everyone who drives by and drops off a can or more of food will be given a free cup of coffee or bottled water. The goal is to fill a semi trailer with the most needed items by the food pantry. This is about helping the community help itself; especially with the holidays right around the corner. Lend a helping hand to those who are hungry in the community.

The top items needed include: macaroni and cheese, canned tuna or chicken, soup, baby food, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, cereal, pancake mix/syrup, juice, Hamburger Helper/Tuna Helper, peanut butter/jelly, instant potatoes, noodles, rice, cooking oil, flour, sugar, coffee, tea, toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, shampoo, conditioner, soap, liquid soap, deodorant, toothpaste, cotton swabs, feminine products, diapers/pull ups, baby wipes, bleach, laundry detergent and dish detergent.
