Twisters take second at Huntley Tourney

Submitted by Mike Gallo

The LASC (Lindenhurst) Twisters gold team opened up the season in Huntley recently at the Heat Summer Challenge.

In pool play, the Twisters opened up with the Elk Grove Gators and coasted to a 5-0 victory. Game 2 saw the girls take on the Croatian Eagles out of Burlington, Wis., where they dropped a 3-0 decision. In their final pool game, the girls played one of the host Huntley teams. After winning that game, the girls assured themselves of a spot in the championship game where they would again be pitted against the Croatian Eagles. Although the girls played hard, they dropped the game 3-1 and had to settle for second place in the U15/16 division.

Goalkeeper Monica Wilhelm posted a 1.50 GAA for the tourney. Leading scorers for the Twisters were Rachel Moore and Casey Moczynski with four each and Ava Speer added three. Other contributors were Alyssa Bombicino, Rylie Matchett, Jensen Bernard, Hannah Gallo, Callista Hass, Karly Monaco, Kate Weyhrich, Morgan Keefer, Lindsey Smith, Skyler Forbes, Lindsey Kumpula

The girls will open up the regular season in the IWSL's AB north division.
