Lindenhurst man sentenced to prison and probation for sexually abusing child over 13 years of age

A Lindenhurst man was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 30 months of probation after pleading guilty to abusing a child who was between the ages of 13 and 18.

William Dehn, 42, of the 2000 block of Burr Oak Lane, will have to serve 50 percent of his prison sentence before being eligible for parole, Lake County Judge Victoria Rossetti said Friday.

After completing the prison sentence, he will have to report to Lake County probation within 48 hours to begin serving the 30-month sentence.

Dehn has also been assigned to sex offender and mental health counseling, must pay fines totaling $6,163. He must register as a sex offender for life in the state of Illinois.

Dehn pleaded guilty to single counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery for twice abusing the victim, who he knew, in 2011, Assistant State's Attorney John Brown said. The 18 varying counts of sex abuse remaining were dropped as part of the negotiated plea agreement approved Friday.

Brown and defense attorney Kevin Malia did not comment after the plea deal was accepted in court.

Dehn was immediately taken into custody after the plea deal was accepted.
