Duckworth works for her constituents

In reply to the Sept. 14 letter written by Gerald Aleksy, who claims Tammy Duckworth is not doing her job and leaning on the fact that she is a veteran, I have firsthand knowledge that she is doing exemplary work for her constituents and I am prepared to vote for her in November.

In August 2013 I moved to Streamwood from Roseburg, Ore., having to give up my Oregon Medicaid and apply for Illinois Medicaid. In dealing with the Department of Human Services, I found they had mistakenly listed me as a married person and denied me the Medicaid I had had for the past 12 years.

As a last resort, when I felt all was lost, I called Duckworth's office and spoke to a member of her staff, who told me Tammy would look into it and not to worry. To my great surprise, within one week my Medicaid card arrived in the mail.

That's what you call working for your constituents, and I will be forever grateful to Tammy and her staff who know how to work the machinery of government. Who better to vote for?
