Elgin's Vasa Park site for 14th Fish Boil and Harvest Festival

The 14th annual Fish Boil and Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at Vasa Park, off Route 31 in South Elgin. The "boil" will take place at 2 p.m., with serving immediately following. All the fixings plus coffee and dessert are included. A hot dog plate is available for $5. There will be entertainment by Pat Spaeth with her accordion. Cost is $20 per person for reservations made by Wednesday, Oct. 1. It will be $25 for reservations made after the date. The cost is $5 for children, age 12 and younger. Visit vasaparkil.com.

Scandinavian Park, Inc., a nonprofit organization, celebrates the culture, heritage and traditions of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The board is led by president Judy Seifert of Bartlett, vice president Tom Cleveland of Sycamore, secretary Jackie Moline of Evergreen Park, and treasurer Maureen Wirth of South Elgin, along with five elected Class "A" Trustees and a group of Class "B" trustees who are appointed by their respective Scandinavian lodges and organizations. These lodges and organizations include the Swedish Vasa Order of America's Austin Lodge, Bessemer Lodge, Hagar Lodge, Kronan Lodge, Siljan Mora Tuna Lodge, Viljan Lodge, Norwegian National League, Finnish American Society, Danish National Committee and the Icelandic Association of Chicago.
