City Of Highwood Announces Scott Coren As New City Manager

HIGHWOOD, IL (SEPTEMBER 2014) - The City of Highwood, Illinois is proud to announce Scott Coren as Highwood's new City Manager, effective September 18, 2014. Boasting over 10 years of City Management experience, Coren is excited to join the City of Highwood.

Coren has served as Assistant City Administrator with the City of Darien in DuPage County, IL for the past five years. He has extensive experience in all aspects of municipal management including community and economic development, financial management, human resources, information technology, and code enforcement. He holds a Masters Degree in Management of Public Services from DePaul University. Coren will replace Scott Hartman, who has been City Manager of Highwood since October 2011.

"We have highest of hopes for Scott and his abilities to lead our city," says Mayor Charlie Pecaro.

Coren will begin just in time for The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival, in which 100,000 residents and tourists flock to the City to come together as a community and fundraise for the Autism Society of Illinois, carve pumpkins and enjoy the local stores and dining options. Coren is also looking forward to taking charge of the new development plans for the City. Professional planning firm Teska Associates, Inc. and the Highwood TOD Steering Committee have both put a year of careful review and consideration into the recent project.

"The growth of the City in the past few years has been fascinating to watch, due in part to all the family-friendly festivals, great restaurants and businesses, and new infrastructure plans," says Coren. "I'm excited to be at the helm at such an exciting time for this City."
