Student trio win prestigious award:

High school students from Bolingbrook and South Barrington and a 2014 graduate from Hawthorn Woods were named by The College Board as Illinois Advanced Placement Scholars in recognition of exceptional achievement on the exams. The honorees are: Anand D. Abraham, of Bolingbrook, a senior at Neuqua Valley High School in Indian Prairie District 204 in Aurora; Bryce Z. Cai, of South Barrington, a junior at Barrington High School in Barrington Unit District 220; and, Vivian Wan, of Hawthorn Woods, a graduate at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire. The Advance Placement program gives students an opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both before they graduate from high school. The College Board awards the honor to one female and one male student in each state and the District of Columbia based on scores. This year, Illinois had two male students who qualified. The trio is among 103 students nationally to win the award.
